Agriculture is vital to the Philippine economy. It employs around 40% of Filipino farm laborers and contributes an average of 20% of the country's GDP. This output is primarily from agribusiness, which accounts for over 70% of total agricultural output (CIDA-LGSP, 2003). Agriculture satisfies the need for food by harvesting crops such as wheat, sugar cane, rice, and a variety of others, and then processing them until they are ready to be delivered.
In the Philippines, we hold lawyers and doctors in high regard. However, we may require the services of doctors or lawyers on occasion. Farmers are needed not only once a day, but three times a day.
